Renaud,
I have received your e-mail.
The business in Japan is currently in a transient stage,
and even though there is some needs of adding staffs to the Tokyo office, it
will not move so rapidly. Meanwhile, I have couple of
questions;
-The work in the Tokyo office really is not an
'Engineering' work, but a 'Business support function'. It does handle a wide
range of technical subjects, but our role is the interface/lubricant type of
role between the utilities and Richland/Lynchburg/Lyon. So far, there is no plan
and expectation in the company management level, to have a real engineering
function in Japan. Thus, even if there would be a position, I doubt that it
would be an advantage to your career as an 'engineer' within or outside of
AREVA. What do you think about such point?
-Can you let me know better how good you are in Japanese?
Were you able to read the text books when you were studying in Tohoku
University?
-When you say employment opportunities in Japan, are you
seeking for a expat type of assignment (two or three years in Japan and back to
US or France) or non-binding (i.e. it could be a few years, but even
longer)?
To be honest with you, I cannot say at this moment, whether
there is a position in Tokyo or not. It means that I don't deny the possibility,
but I surely cannot make any commitment even to interview you. Give me some
time, and I will get back to you.
Regards,
Nori Kaneko
